Are you familiar with diaper need? September 23-29 is National Diaper Need Awareness Week highlighting this important issue for many families.

One in three families struggle to provide an adequate supply of clean diapers for their child. Families are making difficult decisions whether to buy food or diapers, or to pay for housing or utilities. Diapers are a basic need to keep babies healthy and happy.

How can you help?

– Donate money or diapers of any size to The Food Depot’s Diaper Depot (all sizes are greatly appreciated, but larger sizes are in high demand from partner agencies).
– Advocate to end diaper need. There is currently not a federal program that assists families specifically with diapers, including the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps).
– Volunteer to sort diapers at The Food Depot. Contact Sarah to get on the schedule.
