SANTA FE — Souper Bowl XXII, a fundraiser for The Food Depot, will be held at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center, 201 W. Marcy St., from noon to 2:30 p.m., on Jan. 30, 2016.

This year’s event will host 30 restaurants competing for best soup in four categories: Best Cream Soup, Best Seafood Soup, Best Vegetarian Soup and Best Savory Soup€” and all restaurants will compete for the title of Best Overall Soup.

“We are excited to once again bring together some the area’s best chefs. There’s always good-spirited competition, excitement and fun€” all for an important cause,” said Sherry Hooper, executive director of The Food Depot. “The Souper Bowl is our largest annual fundraiser. The funds from this event support Northern New Mexicans in need throughout the year.”

Advance tickets are available through The Lensic Box Office, until noon on Jan. 29.

$30 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 12, children 6 and younger are free

Tickets the day of the event are $35 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 12.

In addition to participating in the soup competition, attendees will have opportunities to learn more about The Food Depot’s programs and mission. Cookbooks filled with recipes from participating chefs, t-shirts and soup-carrying trays will be available for purchase. Thanks to event sponsors and restaurants, all proceeds from the event go directly to feed Northern New Mexicans in need of assistance.

The Food Depot is committed to ending hunger in Northern New Mexico. As the food bank for nine Northern New Mexico counties, The Food Depot provides food to more than 145 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, hot meal programs, homeless shelters, youth programs, senior centers, homes for the mentally disabled and shelters for battered persons.
