JOB TITLE: Transportation Coordinator, Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Distribution Manager
SUPERVISES: None
SALARY RANGE: $18.00 – $25.00/Hour

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for transporting, loading and unloading product primarily for Food Mobile 1.0 in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards and program guidelines.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Picks up, delivers, loads and unloads product for Food Mobile 1.0 primarily, but may include deliveries from Kids Kitchen and to mobile food pantry and agency partner sites
• Delivers and picks up from agencies or donors if needed throughout our service area
• Assists in food acquisitions routes, when needed
• Ensures outgoing deliveries have correct orders, and perishable and frozen foods are added to orders according to partner agency needs; ensure product is being taken and loaded according to FIFO
• Leads the completion of all delivery paperwork
• Ensures proper time management of early shifts by setting up weekly schedules with Distribution Manager; coordinates coverage for early morning routes and call-ins
• Coordinates CDL and truck safety trainings
• Ensures drivers are compliant with logs and truck safety
• Assists with coordination of vehicle maintenance, leases, rentals and purchases
• Maintains positive customer relationships with donors, partner agencies and volunteers
• Sorts and stores perishable goods in the proper refrigerated and freezer spaces, pulling outdated product – practice FIFO
• Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bin and boxes according to predetermined sequences such as size, type, style, color or product code
• Moves and arranges stock as assigned
• Completes forms, reports, and logs as required
• Reads and understands production schedules, orders, work orders, shipping or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered or distributed
• Supervises volunteers, when appropriate
• Ensures that all stock and inventory items are maintained in accordance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards and program guidelines – executes physical count
• Ensures the proper maintenance and recording of inventory levels for food and nonfood items
• Handles food according to safe food handling practices
• Maintains and safely operates all trucks and warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks; operates scales to weigh inventory items
• Assists in the maintenance and care of the facility and equipment; assists in the safety and sanitation of facilities and equipment through compliance with The Food Depot guidelines and any applicable local, state or federal laws or regulations
• Observes all local, state, and federal regulations in warehouse operations and vehicle transport
• Contributes to building a positive team spirit; puts success of team above own interests
• Complies with all The Food Depot policies, procedures and systems
• Is consistently at work and on time
• Performs related duties as required or assigned; assists other departments as requested; may work evenings and weekends, as needed

Qualifications
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience
• Knowledge of NM DOT and CDL compliance a must
• Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and values of The Food Depot
• Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers and customers; ability to effectively communicate problems and issues
• Ability to read and comprehend packing slips and orders
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide along with a basic understanding of weights and measures
• Must be computer literate; knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, inventory database experience a must
• Commitment to accuracy and thoroughness

Employment Requirements

• Clean Driving Record as defined by DOT and The Food Depot
• Current Medical Examiners Certification
• CDL Class B Commercial Drivers’ License
• Successful Completion of Forklift Training provided by The Food Depot

Physical Environment
• Employee will spend 65% of the time driving a vehicle (truck, forklift and other machinery)
• Employee will spend 35% of time in a warehouse environment
• Requires travel to other facilities within service area and within state
• Possibility of future out of state travel; possibility of overnight stay
• Must be able to get into a forklift and operate all of the controls
• Employee can be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• The employee must be able to load and unload items into and out of truck
• The employee must be able to operate forklift and pallet jacks
• The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud
• Start and stop times may vary
