Hungry to Learn

Growing up, many people are told college after high school is a necessity to get a good-paying job and be successful.

Many college students are facing challenges meeting basic needs though and it’s affecting more than just missing a meal.

Presenting solutions

The Food Depot, New Mexico First and Presbyterian Healthcare Services is hosting a virtual, on-demand showing of the documentary Hungry to Learn, focusing on the lives of college students and challenges they face between March 15 and March 28.

On March 25 there was a live, virtual discussion with The Food Depot’s Executive Director Sherry Hooper and UNM Associate Professor Dr. Sarita Cargas. The discussion included Dr. Cargas’ recent research published in the UNM Basic Needs Report. Click here to view a recording of the Hungry to Learn discussion.

Due to streaming limits and optimizing attendees’ online experience, registration is limited and required. Join us for this free event that discusses one face of hunger that is not often realized.
