Our Commitment to Privacy

At The Food Depot, our top priority is ensuring the information we have about you is protected and secure. We value our relationship with you and work hard to preserve your privacy and insure that your preferences are honored. At the same time, the very nature of our relationship may result in our collecting or sharing certain types of personal information about you. We want you to understand our privacy practices and procedures and we want to answer questions you may have. This Donor Privacy Policy explains how we obtain, use, and protect your nonpublic personal information. Please read this Policy carefully.

As a donor submitting personally identifying information (“Personal Information”) to us or any of our staff, you consent to the terms and conditions of the policy and to our processing and use of Personal Information for the purposes stated below.

Personal Information

“Personal Information” is information that identifies you personally, such as your name, address, telephone number, and email address. We collect your name, email address and other contact information if you register for an event.  We also collect your name, email address, telephone number and payment information when you make a contribution, either on our website, at a special event, over the phone or by mailing in a check.  The above list provides a sample of personal information that may be collected by The Food Depot.  From time to time, we may collect personal information from you in ways not described above.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

The Food Depot does not sell, rent or trade donor names or information to any firm or non-profit organization. We do not share your nonpublic personal information with any firm or non-profit organization for its fundraising or any other purpose, unless you or your representative explicitly asks us to do so.

We may use such voluntarily provided information to improve our understanding of your interests, to improve our services, or to contact you for future support.

We may use your information in other ways, such as to contact you about other Food Depot activities and/or fundraising campaigns, to express appreciation for your support or as otherwise disclosed to you at the point of collection.

We will not send you mailings on behalf of other organizations.

We will collect payment information, billing address and other information necessary to process a donation or event registration.

We will use your information to comply with the law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to the requirements of law or comply with legal process served on us.

We will use the personal information to protect against potential fraud.  We may verify with third parties the information collected in the course of processing a gift, event registration or other donation.  If you use a credit or debit card on the website, we may use card authorization and fraud screening services to verify that your card information and address match the information that you supplied to us and that the card being used has not been reported lost or stolen.

The Food Depot uses third-party vendors for business operations.

We will provide your information to third-party vendors on a confidential basis so that those vendors can provide services such as conducting audits and accounting, maintaining our database, facilitating fundraising activities, mailing newsletters and other educational materials, or processing credit card transactions on our behalf.

Within The Food Depot, we restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those employees who need to know the information in order to provide products or services to you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information.

You have the right to review information that we have collected about you.  To review that information please contact us in writing.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time.  When we do, we will note the last update at the top of this Privacy Policy and post the updated policy on our website at www.thefooddepot.org.

Opt-out/Contact The Food Depot

If you wish to opt-out of receiving future communications, have questions or comments regarding this Donor Privacy Policy, need to update any personally identifiable information or anything else related to The Food Depot, contact us via email at shooper@thefooddepot.org or via phone at (505) 471-1633 extension 110. All opt-out requests will be honored, but please be patient with us as it may take six (6) to eight (8) weeks for opt-out changes to be fully implemented.
